The movie which revolves around a man called Saro is directed by Kunle Afolayan.
The movie is a one of a kind mystical folklore drama which expresses how stubborn, greedy, evil and ungrateful man is.
In the lead role as Saro is Kunle Remi with Sola Sobowale, Bimbo Ademoye, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Taiwo ‘Ogogo’ Hassan, Aisha Lawal playing principal roles.
A young zealous man seeking for greener pasture gets acquainted with a woman called Arunwa in the great Oyo Kingdom. Arunwa played by Sola Sobowale offers him a job and makes him her lover. She treats him well and gives a house to him and he starts his Aso-ofi business. However, unfolding events and his illicit affair with the king’s wife, Arolake leads to his untimely death and encounter with Akala, a mystical bird believed to give and take life.
Arolake played by Bimbo Ademoye stays with her dead lover and runs when she hears a scary sound. She hides behind a tree to get a good look at what will happen and then she sees the bird with his charm. She swiftly hits the bird with a stick and takes his charm. She and Saro then proceeds to an unknown town.
They meet a Good Samaritan who takes them to his house. Unfortunately for the hunter, he gets home to meet his dead son. However, Arolake grabs this opportunity and tells Saro to make use of the charm they stole from Alake. Saro uses it and brings the child back to life.
The sympathizers and the hunter are all in awe as they cannot believe what they just saw and Saro is given the name “Anikulapo” . He’s famous in the village . However, he bits the hand that fed him and that gets him in a situation that he couldn’t escape.
